Florida counter-terror research firm invests in education

TAMPA Fla. – This month, Myakka Research Group, a research and development startup in Florida, awarded its second annual science scholarship and announced plans to establish a $25,000 endowment with the State College of Florida Foundation (Manatee-Sarasota) (SCFF).

Leaders from the Sarasota-based group presented the Myakka Research Group Science Scholarship at SCFF on Oct. 3 at the State College of Florida Foundation 2016 Luncheon. The $1,500 scholarship was awarded to Nick Butler, an undergraduate at State College of Florida, Manatee-Sarasota (SCF), and it will help to offset his cost of education.

“We take tremendous pride in the opportunities we have provided to State College of Florida STEM directed students, not only financially, but in gaining hands-on laboratory training experience,” said Chris Baden, CEO of Myakka Research Group. “The industry level testing data that has resulted as a by-product of the collaboration has made an unmistakable and positive impact on the
progress of our work.”

Each semester, Myakka Research Group offers internship opportunities to a handful of SCF students. The internship program offers students an opportunity to gain real-life laboratory experience and learn from the group’s team of expert researchers. continually provide scholarship funds to students each year.
